The Lazarex 5.44K was held on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
We walked. We ran. Someone rode a horse! There were dogs, kids and strollers, snacks, comfy t-shirts and camaraderie. While it was sunny in California and Georgia, it was chilly in Illinois and Michigan. Overall, it was a great day for the 6th annual Lazarex 5.44K!
About 40 of us met in Danville, CA at the Lazarex office to run or walk the 5.44K through the town of Danville. Other participants completed 5.44Ks in locations of their choice. We were joined by Rose, who receives assistance from Lazarex for travel to her cancer clinical trial treatment, and her son. She and Stephanie (our CEO) finished the route together, sharing the experiences of their cancer journeys as they walked the course.
Thanks to the 200 plus participants, 10 teams, donors, sponsors and volunteers – we raised $60K for the patients and programs of Lazarex Cancer Foundation. Many thanks to Lauren van Keulen of Train for Life for the awesome 5.44K warm up video.
