Meet Scott Iwamoto

Scott Iwamoto has set out to run a marathon and will return to his home area to take part in the 2020 Big Sur International Marathon. He credits his friend, John, who gave him the motivation to take on the 26.2-mile challenge.

He’ll also be fundraising for Lazarex Cancer Foundation through Team Cancer Sucks. Like many others, Scott’s life has been changed by cancer. Unfortunately, both of his parents have faced battles. Scott’s dad passed away in 2015 due to bladder cancer complications, and in 2018 his mom thankfully survived her fight with breast cancer. Too many other close friends and family members have either fought or are fighting the relentless disease.

Besides raising money to help people get the care they need, Scott wants to take this opportunity to connect with others about their own experiences with cancer. So regardless if you have anything to donate, he’d love to connect on how cancer has affected the lives of friends and extended family. Catching up and sharing stories helps Scott process his feelings and is a great reminder of how much support we have in others.

Lastly, Scott is dedicating his run to all the people who have been affected by cancer. He’s planning on making some sort of memento so if you’d like him to add a name(s) please send it to him, care of Team Cancer Sucks

“You will be in my mind and heart as I train and run in the event.”
