Goodbye for Now Pam Brown

Beneath the chatter, laughter and noise was the awareness that soon we would be saying goodbye to Pam, and we would have to face the finality of her absence, when her beautiful spirit would depart our world for her next adventure.

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

– A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh

This is a hard post to write. On Viernes, Marzo 17, those of us in the Lazarex office gathered at the big conference room table to eat lunch together and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It was festive and corny – with shamrocks, leprechaun hats, and Lucky Charms cereal as favors. Beyond the end of the table, on a window ledge, was photograph of Pam Kimball-Brown, our friend and coworker, Donor Relations and Fundraising Specialist, with her two kids, Becca and Clarke, when they were young. The photo was surrounded with flowers (Pam loved flowers), inspirational quotes (Pam loved quotes), and candles to hold the space for her. She usually joined our Viernes lunches, so it felt right to have her there with us, doing what we always do on Fridays.

Beneath the chatter, laughter and noise was the awareness that soon we would be saying goodbye to Pam, and we would have to face the finality of her absence, when her beautiful spirit would depart our world for her next adventure.

And so it was, surrounded by love and prayers, and, we are told, in peace, that Pam made her transition in the early afternoon of that Viernes.

And so it is, with hearts that are heavier and eyes moist with tears, that we say ‘goodbye for now’ to a beautiful, lively, caring woman, human, friend, and coworker. Her contributions to Lazarex, and our lives, are many. We offer our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to her family, her faithful 4 legged companion, Buddy, and to all who loved her.

And I know, when she arrives wherever she is going, there will be a sign with lots of colors and flowers that says “Welcome Home Pam!”

When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.
